PAH-Fest – Edit Days

Wednesday was all about logging the video,  selecting audio clips, giving direction/feedback to the composers, and creating the story outline.

Thursday was the deep thicket of editing.  Arlyn’s experience w/ Adobe Premier came in quite handy.  Jeph’s more a Vegas and Final Cut guy, but came up to speed quickly and stayed on course for a hell of an 18 hour day.  We left LA City College (PAH-Fest base camp) at 3 AM Friday having met our goal of a solid rough cut (the dinnertime lattes definitely kept us focused and energized)!  Late night burritos that Christopher Coppola provided also hit the spot,

Back at work at 10 AM, we had a full day of polishing and prettying.

~5:30PM and Jeph’s just doing some luxury clean up.  The original deadline was 3PM today, and we had a good product at that point, but the extra time they’ve given the teams has allowed us to work on our wish list items.  I’m thrilled we had a chance to apply some fun fx to our opening title.  That was one of those images I’d had in mind since almost the beginning.

The title, on the other hand, did not come easily…it’s one of those things that would have been great to have one more night to sleep on.   I had a list of 5 options and the team (Jeph, Arlyn, and our wonderful composers/musicians, Dana, and Luis) was thankfully able to steer us to the ultimate choice.

Creating by the seat of your pants is a pretty cool process, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to do that this week.  (More thoughts on that process later, in a future post, after some sleep!)  I give Christopher Coppola a lot of credit, and respect, for bringing the storytelling tools and support to people just aching to create and share.
