New Coast, Latest Projects

July 9th, 2010 foust

Studio Freshh has been offline for a few months as we moved our studio from one coast to the other. Now comfortably residing back in the SF Bay Area, we are powering things up, picking up momentum on several large projects, and launching some new projects.

One of our latest is a short documentary about the New Hampshire maple sugaring process.  Here are a few choice photos from the shoot to give you a taste of the mapley flavor.

Note: Normally there would be a lot more snow and it would be much colder in early March in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  We got lucky with some beautiful, sunny, warm weather and bare ground, but it really shortened the sugaring season.

The Harbingers – Our PAH-Fest mobiflick

November 2nd, 2009 dorothy

Just in 2 days of seeking out/filming birds, we are much more attuned to their presence.  What a gift during these times of great change, because that awareness leads us from the past and future, back to the rich potential of being here now!

We had the wonderful opportunity to meet and work with members of the Quesada Gardens Initiative, to create a video that tells the story of how they approach community building in the Bayview, Hunter’s Point district of San Francisco. 3D Edddy – Sculptor of Junk

October 2nd, 2008 foust

3D Edddy has been creating sculptures out of junk since he was a child.  What started as a way to amuse himself while his father worked as a carpenter, evolved into a way to make use of the many byproducts of his ongoing house renovation, and now a career as an exhibiting artist and teacher.

Amidst the native plants flourishing in his Santa Rosa, CA yard, are many of the sculptures he has created over the years, on his own and with his students.  This is where he sorts through abundant stockpiles of junk to create pieces ranging from airplanes with spinning propellers, to large robots, to flying horses and dragons, to whimsical faces, all made from scrap wood, door pulls, bottle caps, corks, rainbow colored telephone wires for hair, and whatever else catches his eye.

He trained as an oil painter, and is quite talented in that medium as well.  But working castaway items into creatures full of life perfectly channels his vision and craftsmanship.  And, through his work with youth, he is sharing the joy of listening to the materials, and letting them guide the creative process.

He’s a fun, mellow dude, with a big heart, who’s making some really cool stuff.

Have a look at the marketing/informational video we produced for him. Check it out »

Brita Subvertisement

September 18th, 2008 foust

We like to drink clean water, and we use a Brita pitcher to filter our water. The thing that bugs us the most, is that Brita does not have a filter recycling/refilling program, so we are forced to throw our used filters in the trash.

We made this video in the style of the Brita ad campaign (sorry, this is the only place these ads can be found) which focuses on the negative environmental impact of plastic water bottles.   The message of the campaign is X minutes in a meeting, or at the gym, etc. A lifetime in the landfill’.  We find it rather ironic considering that the filters end up in those same landfills.

The message is repeated in our video with the filter taking the place of the plastic water bottle.

We recommend checking out the Take Back the Filter site.  They are lobbying to get Clorox (the parent company of Brita) to take back the used filter cartridges.  (Ideally what should happen is for the filters to be refillable/reusable.)  Beth Terry is doing a great job sharing the facts and building momentum.  Beth liked our little vid so we have branded their web address onto the end. Nomad Cafe

August 28th, 2008 foust

This is a promotional web video we produced for Nomad Cafe in Oakland when it was owned by Christopher Waters (ownership has changed since then). We collaborated with them to give it an energetic vibe and created a soundtrack which evokes the global lifestyle their office/meeting space-away-from-home supports.

Nomad wanted to bring the message of what their business is all about into this video. Through shots of the cafe, and employees and customers reciting key words, the message is how they are expanding the definition of green.
