picture of a camera

My photography style is inspired by my upbringing in Michigan – surrounded by the decaying auto industry, plentiful nature, and urban grit. I was trained in using cameras completely manual – and to this day, I prefer the slow deliberative process of making photographs without the aid of automatic settings. View some galleries.

I use a variety of cameras and lenses to make photographs including vintage film cameras and lenses, as well as FujiFilm cameras using the first three generations of X-Trans sensor technology.

My film camera collection includes a variety of Japanese, former Soviet era, and instant cameras in 35mm and 120, 110, and Polaroid and Fuji Instax film format. Vintage lenses that I use capture images with their unique characteristics.

The “filmic” look of early generation FujiFilm X-Trans sensors (X-Pro 1 – x-trans 1, X-T1 – x-trans 2, X100f – x-trans 3) captures the look I prefer when making photographs with digital cameras. All lenses used on my digital cameras are from my collection of vintage lenses.
